Brison's Room

I know that this has been a long time coming. Today is officially my due date and still no baby. But that's okay...we have so many things to be thankful for!!

So here are some pictures of his room. It's not all the way done yet...since I was put on bedrest I haven't been able to do the last few things but they can be done after he gets here.

Here is a picture of the colors we used and the border that we put up.

This is one side of the room where the closet is.

The shelf leaning against the wall will be hung over the dresser (shown in later pictures)

This is the wall that has his crib on it. I plan to modge podge some of the extra wall paper on some wood and hang that as wall art above the crib.

This is a close up of his crib.

This is a close up of the blanket that came with his bedding set.

The glider that we got for late night feedings and snuggling.

This is the other corner of he room. His changing table and dresser.

I have a black mirror to hang over the changing table and this is the dresser where that shelf mentioned earlier will be.

The changing table.I can't wait to have our little man in this room! He will make everything complete :)

Not much of an update

So I don't have anything really fun to blog about. Brian and I have been trying to get Brison's room done...it's been a slow process. We painted one Friday night for a couple hours and I was so swollen and exhausted it took a lot for me to want to get back in there. The room is now all painted we just have to put up the wall border. Hopefully that will get done this week and we can start the setting up and organizing process.

I'm now 32 1/2 weeks pregnant...yes I'm at the point now where I count every day! I'm exhausted and only getting about 4 hours of interrupted sleep because of bathroom breaks. I thought insomnia was bad before but now with struggling to be comfortable enough to fall asleep only to wake up 45 minutes later to go potty. I have now gained a total of 26 pounds. Brison is always super active. At our last appointment the doctor asked me if I was doing my kick counts once a day (the baby should kick at least 10 times in 2 hours) and I laughed and told him that I don't have to count...It's rare that he sits still. Also, at our last appt the doctor said that Brison's heartbeat is strong at 140 and he is already head down. I can't believe that it's almost time for us to meet our little man!

I am so very thankful for the blessing of being pregnant and even through the difficult moments I am so appreciative of this little miracle.

Craftiness

I am not a crafty person...never really have been.

I have my creative moments where I am full of ideas but I've never been great at actually doing them. This past weekend I attended a conference with my sister and mom about becoming fugal, purposeful, and creative. I was inspired by one of the speakers that said "It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful". I think I haven't tried alot of things because I am always afraid of them not looking good. But that just makes it mine and gives it character :)

SOOO I have been wanting to try a few things.

I made my first ever diaper cake...Super easy!!!

Then I wanted to try to make my own diaper wreath for the hospital door. Special thanks to my wonderful hubby for helping me :)

This is the finished product. B could be for boy but I did B for Brison.

This is the B hung with It's a Boy ribbon.

This is a close up of the diapers tied with the same It's a Boy ribbon.

Brian helped me attach the information plate to the B.

Again...I know it's not perfect...but it is something that we made and that in itself makes it special. I can't wait to proudly display it on our hospital room door and then to hang it in his room.

This is another profile picture.

It took us a while to get him to cooperate but...

IT'S A BOY!!!

Showing us his face in 4D

Another 4D face picture.

Either he's shy or he's going to be a boxer :)

Another "shy" picture.

We are so thrilled to know that he is doing great and growing right on time :)

Car Seats

Warning- This is probably really boring to most people...

One of the joys of a first baby is getting to research and purchase all of the items that you need. I have been doing alot of research on car seats lately. I have found that there is a huge difference in what is the minimum requirement and what is actually suggested to be the safest. This is one of the things that I won't be just buying what's cheapest and prettiest.

I was completely suprised to find out how much I didn't know about them. For example: I did know that carseats expire but I didn't know that you should never ever buy a used carseat. I've seen them often times in the second hand store and never really thought twice about it. But you should never buy a second hand car seat because you don't know it's history. It is also suggested that you replace a carseat if it is ANY kind of vehicle accident where it is just a fender bender or huge crash. There is so much information out there that is so helpful when trying to learn and make the best possible decision about something so important.

After all of the research, I decided on the Safety 1st onBoard™35 Air Infant Car Seat. This car seat has the newest technology for side impact crashes to help protect their head from slamming into the side of the carseat as well as protecting the child from anything that may hit the side of the seat itself. I also like that the base has an adjuster so that if you have the deep seats in your vehicle the base can be installed properly and securely. One of the other great things is I like the cute pattern that it comes in too :) I like the colors are brown and green so if baby #2 is a girl we will still be able to use this travel system.

I can't believe that time is flying and in about 13 1/2 short weeks we will be meeting our little Brison.

Gownies

Some of you might be a little curious what the heck I'm going to blog about but I found this wonderfully amazing thing called a Gownie.

It is a hospital grade gown made especially for pregnant women so that they can feel beautiful even under the difficult circumstances of childbirth. It has the shoulder snaps just like a hospital gown for easy access and one of the things that I LOVE is that is snaps all the way down the back instead of a couple of ties that show off your hiney when you have to get up out of the bed. Yes it might be a little vain to want to look somewhat fashionable during those first pictures but anything to make me more comfortable is what's important :) Oh and I'm going to treasure those first pictures of our new little miracle so my opinion counts!

These are the two that I got.

This one is a Fabulous birthday present from my parents :)

I got this one because it has darker colors and will be able to hide things a little better should it get dirty during delivery.

This one I got for after I'm able to get up and shower and change. I'll still be able to be super comfortable and cute at the same time :)

Getting ready for Brison...stage 1

We started getting things ready for our little one to make his arrival...well we ordered some things :) Here are the beginnings of what will be in his room. We, okay so I, decided to go with Black furniture. It's easier to match pieces of black furniture than it is to try to match wood colors. We currently have a 4 drawer dresser that I want to use in the babies room but it's older and needs paint. So Black will be easiest to match.

Here is the crib that we purchased in Black. It's a 4-in-1 convertable so it can made into a toddler bed, day bed, or a full size bed.

This is the changing table/3 drawer dresser we purchased also in Black.

And here is the adorbale bedding that we picked out. Brian's mom used to call him a monkey when he was little so we thought this would be cute for Brison.

I'm so excited for the bedding to come in so that we can pick the paint colors and get started on the room :)
We still have a little less than 17 weeks to prepare but it will be here before we know it :)

Sweet Baby Boy

I know this is long over due...I mean we've known for a little over two weeks that we are expecting a baby Boy in November. It's so exciting to start preparing now that we know what our first child will be. I will post the ultrasound pics soon...just need to scan them in first.

We decided on a name long before we knew if this was a boy or a girl. We are naming this sweet one Brison Jacob. There is a little bit of fun and history in his name that I'll share.

We are naming him Brison because my husband's name is Brian and it is his son sooo...

it's Bri's son...

Well, Okay we LOVE the name Brison too but I think it's absolutely adorable that Brian wants his son to be semi-named after him without being a Jr (which neither of us are very keen on).

We are giving him the middle name Jacob because my mom always had that name picked out for her second boy. But being the lucky woman she is, lol, she was blessed with 4 girls after my brother so there was never an opportunity for her to use the name. So my wonderful and amazing mother is finally getting her Jacob.

Everyday I feel so unbelievably thankful for this gift that I have been given to be a mother. For those of you that know my past, you know that this is a long awaited dream of mine and one that I thought might never come true because of infertility. It is a blessing and miracle that I thank my Heavenly Father for everyday!
